A Neighborhood to Experience

Dorsoduro is an open-air art gallery. After San Marco, it is the district with the highest concentration of museums and architectural treasures.

You will find us in Calle dell’Avogaria, right next to the Church of San Sebastiano, a Renaissance gem entirely decorated with masterpieces by Paolo Veronese.


Just a few steps away, you can experience the daily rituals of the city:

  • Campo Santa Margherita: For the "spritz ritual" among the locals.
  • Zattere: For the walk most loved by Venetians, overlooking the Giudecca Canal.

A V O G A R I A  Rooms,  you can't miss an aperitivo in Campo Santa Margherita or a stroll along the Zattere, a favorite area of ​​Venetians and local residents.


Dorsoduro is one of the few remaining districts inhabited primarily by local residents and university students, centrally located yet far from the bustling tourist scene.


It is the neighborhood with the highest concentration of museums and churches, second only to San Marco. Convenient and easy to reach from the Santa Lucia train station, the Piazzale Roma Terminal, and a short walk from the maritime Passenger Terminal. 



This elegant boutique hotel is located on Calle dell'Avogaria in Dorsoduro, next to the Church of San Sebastiano, a 16th-century architectural gem entirely decorated with paintings by Paolo Veronese.


A V O G A R I A  Rooms is easily accessible by both motorboat taxi and car taxi: only a 3 minute walk from the Hotel there is a private road where you can arrive and depart by taxi, to/from the airport and to/from Piazzale Roma (train station).


We also offer a convenient pick up service (for a fee) for guests arriving by plane.

  • by plane

    From the “Marco Polo” Venice Airport (13 km)

    Take the ATVO shuttle or ACTV Line 5 bus to get to the Venice vehicle terminal, Piazzale Roma. Then take the ACTV Line 2 boat to Giudecca and get off at the San Basilio stop. The Avogaria is quite close. Walk along Calle del Vento (Wind Street, in front of the boat stop), go across Campo San Basegio and continue on the foundations. The second street on the right is Calle dell’Avogaria. Just 10 more meters and you have arrived. The Avogaria is at number 1629.

    Alternatively, you can go to the Darsena (or dockyard) and hop on a water taxi that will take you directly to Avogaria 5 Rooms. Or take the classic taxi outside the terminal that will take you to San Basilio: from here continue on foot following the directions above.


    From the “Antonio Canova” Treviso Airport (30 km)

    Get to Venice using the EUROBUS – ATVO shuttle. Reach Piazzale Roma, Venice’s vehicle terminal, and continue as indicated above.

  • by train

    Get to the Santa Lucia Station in Venice. From the foundation in front of the station take the ACTV Line 2 boat to Giudecca and get off at the San Basilio stop. In two minutes you will arrive at the Avogaria. Walk along Calle del Vento (Wind Street, in front of the boat stop), go across Campo San Basegio and continue on the foundations. The second street on the right is Calle dell’Avogaria. Just 10 more meters and you have arrived. The Avogaria is at number 1629.

    Alternatively, from the train station you can take the water taxi that will take you directly to the entrance of Avogaria.

  • by car

    From the highway, after the barrier, follow the indications to Venice. Once you arrive, leave your car in one of the city's car parks (preferably the Tronchetto Park or Piazzale Roma). Either from Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma, take the ACTV Line 2 boat to Giudecca and get off at the San Basilio stop. Continue as indicated above.

    Alternatively, from Tronchetto Park you can take the water taxi that will take you directly to Avogaria.
